Donations
Thank
you for your interest in donating books and magazines to the
Friends. Here are some frequently asked questions regarding donations.Does the Library takes donations?
Yes the Davis Branch Library takes donations. Most donations are handled by the Friends.
Where can I bring my books and magazines to donate?
Please use the special Friends book slot located at the South end of the library parking lot. It is marked as the Friends drop-off point for both books and magazines. The slot connects directly with the Friends sorting room. If for some reason your donations will not fit through the slot, please leave them in boxes or bags outside the slot. Due to theft, we hope to minimize donations left outside so please use the slot if possible. If you have more than three boxes to donate, call (530) 758-4754 to arrange for pickup.
What happens to my donations once I give them to the Friends?
First, all donations are sorted by Friends volunteers in our sorting room. Some items will be given to the librarians for consideration to include in the collection. Donations are used to stock the Friends Alcove (left of entrance in library). Most books will be stored in our warehouse for the next Friends Book Sale.
What if I only want to donate my books if they are included in the collection?
The Friends don't make the final decision to include a certain book in the collection. The librarians do. If you want to talk to a librarian about adding your books to the Library call dial 757-5593. Please be assured that all donations benefit the Library. All money earned by the Friends book sales and Alcove sales are used to fund library needs such as books or videos that would have been impossible to purchase otherwise.
What kind of materials are the Friends interested in?
Because our storage space remains limited and in order to insure that our sales table offers current and attractive material we ask that your donations be limited to the following:
